About Edwin Torres

Edwin Torres was born on July 2nd, 1983 in Santa Fe de Bogota Colombia and migrated to the United States in November 1986 with his mother older brother and older sister. Upon his arrival, he resided in New Rochelle New York where he attended Jefferson Elementary School in New Rochelle New York in September 1988 At the age of 5. He attended Jefferson Elementary School until June 1995 after completing the fifth grade. He then attended Isaac E. Young Middle School for grades 6 through 8 and even played on the Soccer team in his 7th and 8th-grade years. During his time at Isaac Edwin developed an Interest in writing. Edwin always excelled in Literature and Social Studies. He always received praise from his teachers for his writing. Edwin attended Isaac E. Young Middle School until June 1998 when he graduated from the 8th grade. He went on to attend New Rochelle High School in September 1998. During his time at New Rochelle High School Edwin did not do very well academically.    He struggled to pass his classes and get good grades. This was due to his lack of interest in school. Edwin did attend class often and performed well in class but failed his quizzes and exams and never did homework. While at New Rochelle High School in 2001 and 2002 during his Junior and Senior years  Edwin was a part of a program called BOCES (Board Of Cooperative Educational Services.) 

While at this program Edwin studied culinary arts with the desire to pursue a degree in the field but due to his poor grades Edwin was left back and eventually dropped out of High School. From 2003 until 2010 Edwin worked at various Catering Halls, Country Clubs, and Banquet clubs as a waiter, busboy, or runner to make some money. In 2011 Edwin decided to go back to school to obtain his GED. After obtaining his GED. Edwin then went on to work as a security guard and worked at several places doing security. In 2013 he worked security at Westchester Medical Center where he decided to give up security to join the medical field as a CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician.) In June 2017 Edwin took the CRCST course for 8 weeks and passed. In October of that same year, Edwin went on to do to an internship two days a week at Westchester Medical Center as a CRCST technician for 400 hours. He completed his 400 hours in March 2018. Then in May 2018 Edwin received his CRCST certification through IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management). In late July of that same year, Edwin started working as a Sterilization Technician at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich Connecticut. Edwin worked there until November 2019 and in December of that same year was hired by a Consulting Company named SIPS consults. (Sterilization Instruments Processing Specialists) where he was given a 13-week contract as a Sterilization Technician at the HSS (Hospital for Special Surgery) in New York City. Edwin finished out his Contract with HSS in March 2020. A few days prior to that his first published book came out titled REAL LIFE FICTION. and went on to work at Mercy Hospital in Springfield Massachusetts one week after completion of his previous contract at HSS. Unfortunately due to the COVID 19 pandemic Edwin was laid off and returned to Westchester New York where he currently resides. Edwin’s inspiration and passion for writing come from life love and the world. Edwin is also currently working on his second book which will be in Spanish titled POECIAS DE MI MENTE HISTORIAS DEL PRESENTE (Poems Of My Mind Stories Of The Present) which is set to be released sometime in 2020. The book is the same style of writing as the first one.
